i talk about semantic technologies and the media industry all the time (passionately) - this is my simple wiki page to point folks to...

ongoing: information on the rnews standard can be found here ...

intl conference update: i'm on the program committee for the industry track of iswc 2011 & will be attending the event in germany...

conference: semantic web media summit - nyc (sept 14 2011)

here is my deck from the keynote...

my talked is titled: Why the Media companies should be interested in the Semantic Web...

my premise is: a media company's goal could be to create efficiencies during content creation, to better understand content already being produced, to insure that content is properly discoverable or to be positioned to take advantage of new opportunities. whatever the motivation, media companies need to understand what the structured content approaches provided by the semantic web have to offer and how it could change media production, consumption and monetization...

semanticweb.com did the following interview of me in advance of the conference...

if you have a pov on the above or are part of a media company leveraging semantic technologies - pls feel free to contact me...

i attended semtech 2011 in san francisco in early june 2011 and spoke on a future of media panel - the new content ecosystem - it was a great event...

i spoke at media bistro's fall 2010 semantic web summit - the deck i presented is on slideshare - semtech deck - it contains my pov on semantic technologies: why the media industry needs to engage, specifically because of the context of content that it will expose which will ultimately increase the visibility of content to search & social platforms, improve advertising performance and help meet the velocity of content requests that audiences demand.

i've started to use a very simple value proposition slide as well which is here - semtech slide - i try to illustrate the relationship between content production, search (social) discovery and advertising platforms - adding context via semantic mechanisms should improve seo, increase cpm and better define sentiment for advertisers.

i participated in the april 2011 episode of the semantic link podcast, speaking further on semtech & media - semtech podcast (my part starts at 36:23 but the entire podcast is informative) - plus going into the iptc rnews pending standard (with evan from ny times) which i'm helping to review...

i was interviewed on beet.tv regarding rnews in may, 2011...

a great semantic technology resource is the web standards body w3c.org - try their rdfa primer for starters...

i attended the iptc/rnews overview at the ny times on april 21, 2011 - the video & presentations are here...

i talk at public semtech events but i also do some private speaking engagements for media teams on this topic, so far mostly in the northeast - ping me if you're interested...

my about.me page contains my online footprint...

this wiki also contains a page dedicated to my venture related technical due diligence process and my bio/photo page primarily for media & conference organizers...
